EXTENSION OF THE JOXEMIEL BARANDIARAN SPORTS COMPLEX, LAZKAO In this phase, as it is an interior refurbishment, the current configuration of the sports complex and its relationship with the surroundings is fully respected, maintaining the logic through which the complex has been developed over time. The building is organized into two clearly defined areas—the fronton court and the swimming pool area together with the dry activities—which establish its main structure and allow the intervention to be understood as a continuation rather than a transformation.

The extension is materialized through a new volume attached to the existing building, located above the current tennis court, introducing a new element within the complex without altering its overall operation. This structure is developed across different levels, with a basement floor dedicated to services, a level housing the new swimming pool basin, and a mezzanine with seating, establishing a direct relationship between the water space and its observation.

The intervention is completed with the refurbishment of the changing rooms on the first floor and the reorganization of the entrance area on the ground floor, reinforcing the clarity of circulation and the legibility of the complex. The result is an update of the existing building that improves its performance without altering its essence, integrating the new uses naturally into the current structure of the sports facility.
